    Volunteering at the GEFC!

The Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard (GEFC) could never meet the needs of the hungry in our community without the help of those who so generously donate their time every week. Volunteer contributions are wide ranging and include:

    • picking up food from grocery stores
    • dividing and sorting food
    • stocking shelves
    • distributing food
    • entering data
    • cleaning
    • serving on the Board of Directors
    • participating in various fundraising activities

We also have people who volunteer for shorter periods of time or who make their contributions off site. For example, some deliver letters door to door during our fundraising campaigns, while others organize food drives on our behalf.

A priority for the GEFC is to find the following volunteers:

    Volunteer Driver
The GEFC is looking for volunteer driver(s) to pick up produce on Monday and Friday mornings from a location in the Cyrville industrial area, and deliver it to the Food Cupboard. The total time requirement for this volunteer duty is under 1 hour per day. The volunteer must be able to pick up a box or bag that may weigh up to 50 pounds.

    Data Base Volunteer
T he GEFC is looking for a volunteer to help change our data storage application. We presently use Paradox, a DOS based operating system. We are moving to Access, with an MS based operating system and need expertise in programming and working out the bugs in the new system.

If you’re interested in getting involved, why not contact us? We’ll talk about how your skills may best be used and arrange a time for you to come in and have a tour of the Food Cupboard.
