How to Make a Donation!

To meet the needs of the people who require the support of the Gloucester Emergency Food Cupboard, we accept financial donations as well as contributions of food and material.

Financial Contributions

Financial contributions are usually made by cheque or by credit card (MasterCard or Visa).

Did you know? - Financial institutions now take over 4% of each credit card donation which comes directly to us. Donations made through CanadaHelps.org are subject only to a 3% commission. And CanadaHelps.org issues your tax receipt directly.

A donation of $30 feeds one person for four days; a donation of $60 feeds two people for four days; a donation of $118 feeds a family of four people for four days while a donation of $176 feeds a family of six for the same period.

Food Contributions

Why not organize a food drive or donate a bag of groceries? Items we can always include:

• breakfast cereal (rice krispies, raisin bran, corn flakes)
• school snacks (crackers, cookies, puddings, jello snacks, granola bars, drinks)
• canned fruit & vegetables
• canned tuna and salmon
• spaghetti sauce and pasta
• canned soup and stew
• kidney beans & chick peas
• rice/flour/sugar
• jam and condiments
• personal hygiene items (soap, shampoo, maxi pads, tampons)
• household supplies (laundry detergent, dish soap, toilet paper)
• tea or coffee
• baby needs - formula, baby food, diapers (sizes 2 - 5)

Seasonal Needs

During the Christmas season, we try to supplement food orders with seasonal foods. Monetary donations are also needed to offset the cost of Christmas turkey coupons which our clients use at a local grocery store.
